The Purpose of the
Minority Business
Manufacturing
Development Committee is
to:
leverage the expertise,
service delivery and
networks of
organizations that
provide support to
minority business
manufacturers; share
knowledge;
develop strategies to
increase the number of
minority businesses
participating in
manufacturing programs
such as NIST programs,
services and contracting
opportunities; and
Build awareness and
provide increased
outreach assistance, as
needed, to Minority
Business Enterprises
that can be served
through these supporting
organizations such as
NIST/MEP, MBDA, MTAPP,
DOD, NMSDC etc.
The Committee members
work to:
Develop Strategic
partnerships with NIST/MEP,
MBDA, MTAPP, DOD, NMSDC
and other similar type
organizations to promote
and develop minority
business manufacturing
companies.
Develop an outreach
program designed to
familiarize minority-owned
manufacturers with
industry trends and
inform these companies
of the services provided
through these
organizations.
Develop and/or reinforce
the local partnerships
Develop a strategy to
identify minority
manufacturers that can
support federal
requirements
Develop and implement an
outreach strategy to
increase MBE awareness
of programs that will
assist minority
manufacturers to reach
higher productivity
levels and growth
Participate in
supporting organization
meetings, such as
Minority Enterprise
Development Week (MED
Week), for the purpose
of providing information
on manufacturing support
programs.
Coordinate and invite
these organizations to
participate in outreach
efforts involving
minority businesses and
educational institutions
for the purpose of
stimulating technology
knowledge within the
minority community.
Assist in identifying
minority companies that
can compete for
manufacturing
opportunities.
Identify minority-owned
manufacturers and assess
the specific needs of
the minority market
place as they relate to
the strengths of the
various support programs.
Work to define the
minority manufacturing
market and determine the
critical areas of
expertise needed most.
Conduct outreach to
appropriate segments of
the minority market
space (including, but
not limited to minority
manufacturers), and
related organizations. |
