Dear Business Leaders, On behalf of the U.S. Hispanic Youth Entrepreneur Education (USHYEE), I cordially invite you to the first Hispanic Youth Achievement Forum scheduled to take place on November 4, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the campus of the University of Baltimore . This year’s theme “Building Capacity to Improve Achievement” seeks to send a positive message to Hispanic students to stay in school and continue their education on through college. This first Forum will provide over 100 parents, educators, and students from Baltimore City and County, with an opportunity to learn about financing a college education, practical solutions for inspiring and encouraging Hispanic youth, and learning about entrepreneurship. Our vision at USHYEE is to prepare, equip, and educate today’s Hispanic youth to become this country’s brightest and most successful leaders by developing public and private partnerships with school districts, colleges and universities, corporations, community leaders, educators, parents and government agencies. We have invited Dr. Fred Soto as our motivational speaker and guest lecturer to speak on the subject of how to reach and inspire Hispanic youth to achieve success. Dr. Soto believes there is a direct relationship between adult leader/teen relationships and teen behavioral outcomes. Teens need the attention of caring adults as much as they did in childhood. That is why we are encouraging community leaders and teachers to attend this Forum in order to obtain "hands on experience" and practical solutions for inspiring and encouraging young people. It is more important than ever that we try to understand the wisdom keys that can help Hispanic youth succeed even in the face of adversity! Dr. Fred Soto will identify factors that can increase the likelihood of youth success even in high-risk circumstances. Their will be a business development workshop for the students were they can win a cash prize for best business idea. We are also encouraging Hispanic students in the community to come to this event with their parents. For parents we will provide a workshop on financing a College Education. Parents will acquire the knowledge to begin planning for their child’s higher education, learning about FAFSA, scholarships and other financial options for helping their children go to college. This workshop will be available in Spanish-English for parents who are not fully proficient in either language. We are looking forward to you attendance, I have attached a copy of our agenda for your reference.
