MBRT Speaks Up on Debt Ceiling & Deficit
- Joins the Business Roundtable and coalition of other powerful business lobbying
groups calling on White House and Congress to agree on debt ceiling and deficit reduction plan
- Failure to act undermines financial confidence in United States and impacts World
financial markets
- Urges both Republicans and Democrats to put aside partisan differences and act in
the Nation’s best interests
Washington, D.C. – MBRT joined a broad coalition of business leaders representing Fortune 500
CEO’s, Wall Street and Main Street business leaders in a letter to the President and Members of
Congress calling on the U.S. government to make good on its financial obligations and to put its
fiscal house in order.
“At stake is the solvency of the United States and our ability to pay our bills when due”’ said Roger
A. Campos, President & CEO. “Millions of Seniors on Social Security and Disability, Veterans and
Soldiers, and Small and Minority business owners who contract with the federal government and
employ millions of Americans that receive a monthly federal check will be affected if Congress and
the White House can’t agree”.
“It is critical that the U.S. government not default in any way on its fiscal obligations. A great
nation – like a great company - has to be relied upon to pay its debts when they become due. This
is a Main Street not Wall Street issue.” Barack Obama
